30 Jun Llorts to Estanys de l’Angonella
Discover the Estanys de l’Angonella hike from Llorts, Ordino. A stunning 8.24 km mountain lake hike with 860 m elevation and breathtaking alpine views.
I had been looking forward to this hike for a long time because David kept telling me it was one of the most beautiful routes in Ordino. Last week, I finally decided to hike it together with Ayla.
We picked a very warm day, which made the climb much tougher than expected. The trail is considerably steeper than I had imagined, and the heat definitely added an extra challenge. Despite the effort, every step was worth it once we reached the breathtaking lakes.

Route Description
The hike starts in the charming village of Llorts, easily reached via the CG-3 road. From the centre of the village, you’ll pass the beautiful Sant Serni Church before following the signs towards Bordes de la Mollera.
The trail immediately begins to climb through a peaceful forest of red pine trees. As you gain elevation, the landscape gradually changes and the red pines give way to black pine forests. The ascent is continuous and demanding, with around 770 metres of climbing before reaching the Coll de l’Angonella.
From the mountain pass, the trail becomes gentler. At an altitude of 2,234 metres, you’ll reach the Refugi de l’Angonella, a perfect place to take a short break while enjoying spectacular mountain views.
From here, the highlight of the hike awaits. The path leads to the three Estanys de l’Angonella, crystal-clear glacial lakes nestled in a spectacular cirque surrounded by the peaks of ArcalĂs, CataperdĂs, and Les Fonts. It’s one of those places where you simply want to sit down, enjoy the silence, and take in the scenery.
After exploring the lakes, you return to Llorts via the same trail.
