A beautiful circular hike passing three alpine lakes with dramatic Pyrenees views. Perfect for a relaxed morning hike.
The hike to the stunning Tristaina Lakes is one of the most beautiful and accessible mountain routes in Andorra. With a moderate level of difficulty, this circular trail is suitable for walkers of all ages and fitness levels.
An Easy Start – Perfect for Families
The route begins at the Coma services car park in the Ordino Arcalís ski resort or you can take the Telecabina de Tristaina and park there. From here, the gentle ascent to the first lake takes approximately 40 minutes from restaurant la Borda de la Coma. This first section is easy and ideal for families with children, making it a perfect introduction to hiking in the Pyrenees.
If you’re looking for a first mountain experience with your family, this trail offers the ideal setting: wide paths, breathtaking scenery, and a safe, well-marked route.
The Three Tristaina Lakes
The three high-mountain lakes are the true highlight of the hike and give the route its name.
Estany Primer
The first lake you encounter is Estany Primer, the smallest of the three — yet often the most striking, thanks to its intense blue waters. It’s a wonderful place to take a break, enjoy a picnic, and soak in the peaceful alpine atmosphere.
Many families choose this spot to relax while children explore the surroundings. On warm summer days, some even dip their feet in the refreshing mountain water. It’s the kind of moment that truly feels like a holiday in the heart of nature.
Tip
Go before 10am in summer to avoid crowds and find easier parking. After the hike you can have a very nice lunch (inside or outside) at La Borda de la Coma.

Restaurant tips
We love restaurant la Coma for their traditional mountain dishes such as grilled meats and homemade stews. For the kids they serve a very generous 3 course kids menu. On weekends and special days, outdoor barbecues are also organised. The outdoor terrace offers stunning views of the central slopes of Ordino Arcalís. Stunning in winter and in the summer. A perfect spot to relax and take in the scenery. A reservation is required on most days.
