A beautiful trail from the Vall d’Incles you don’t want to miss! We started at the parking lot (when we were there, the road to restaurant Oveja Negra was closed) via the restaurant, up the mountain, and over the mountain pass.

A beautiful hike from the Vall d’Incles parking lot (the road to Oveja Negra was closed) via the restaurant, up the mountain, and over the mountain pass. Not a super technical climb, but long, and especially for a 4-year-old 😎💪💪. The girls are getting stronger and stronger, so proud of them! 🌞
In September 2025, we decided to take the girls on one of our favorite family hikes in Andorra: the beautiful trail from Vall d’Incles up to the scenic Refugi de Juclar.
When we arrived, the road leading to L’Ovella Negra was closed, which meant we had to park at the lower public parking area. This added around 3 extra kilometers to our hike. While it wasn’t part of the original plan, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise — the additional stretch through the valley was peaceful, scenic, and a great warm-up before the climb.
A Perfect Family Trail in Andorra
The trail from Vall d’Incles to Refugi de Juclar is considered one of the most beautiful and accessible hikes in Andorra. It’s not technically difficult and is suitable for families and beginner hikers with a reasonable level of fitness.
The path gradually ascends through alpine meadows, alongside mountain streams, and offers stunning views of the surrounding Pyrenees peaks. The scenery constantly changes, making the hike engaging and rewarding from start to finish.
The final section becomes slightly steeper, but it remains manageable and well-marked.
Refugi de Juclar – A Reward with a View
Reaching Refugi de Juclar feels like a true mountain achievement. Located near the largest lakes in Andorra, the setting is spectacular. Sitting on the terrace with a drink and a slice of cake while overlooking the high mountain landscape was the perfect way to end the hike.
Tip
In summer you can spend the night there! Think of comfy bunkbeds, a fire 🔥, guitar music and a morning coffee at the terrace ☕️

Restaurant tips
On the end of the hike you can enjoy a lunch of dinner at the Xirinquito of L’Ovella Negra. See the menu here. Every Thursday at 8pm during the summer months, they host a small live music performance.
